Immediate Needs

The DCPS is partnering with TPHS, Mr. Evan Daniels (principal), and staff to improve TPHS facilities, but is unable to provide funding for 100% of the school’s needs.

TPHS has requested assistance and funding from the TP Alumni Fund for two student activities facilities (listed below). The facilities listed are listed in order of priority.

Baseball Facility

The Duval County Public School System (DCPS) recently deemed the thirty-one-year-old baseball facility unfit for student-athlete use. The cost to fully replace the facility is approximately $200,000 and is required to be paid for by the TPHS Athletic Department.

Brad Bernard (TPHS Athletic Director) consulted with DCPS engineers and contractors, and it was determined that the facility can be repaired instead of fully replaced. Repairing the facility is the most economical and efficient solution to the problem and ensures that the baseball team’s operations will not be interrupted this upcoming season.

Bernard and Dennis Robertson (head baseball coach) consulted with Steve Johnson (local builder and former TPHS baseball player). The estimated cost for facility repairs is $60,000.

Student Wellness Facility

The TPHS Student Wellness Facility (f/k/a “the weight room”) is open to all TPHS students regardless of whether they are members of a TPHS athletic team. The facility is over forty years old and needs to be modernized with updates to the facility and new equipment.

The cost for modernizing the Student Wellness Facility is approximately $40,000. An architectural rendering of part of the proposed Student Wellness Facility is included in the Reporting Documents.

If you have any specific questions about the projects, please contact Brad Bernard, Terry Parker Athletic Director.
